The University of Chicago’s Department of Visual Arts and Logan Center Exhibitions present the 2024 BA Thesis Exhibition ARACHNIDAE featuring works by Leah Chappell, Isabella Diefendorf, Julia Fennell, Otis Gordon, natalie jenkins, Yisong Tang, K. Thornburgh-Mueller, and Jordan Yi.

ARACHNIDAE presents eight artists who weave gossamer threads of expression, participating in a strange and beautiful process of creation. Similar to the spiders, scorpions, mites, and ticks of the arachnida class, the artists of ARACHNIDAE occupy distinct ecologies, coming from the dusty garages and overturned rocks of the world to compose dialogues that find resonance in the contemporary moment. Working across a range of mediums, this show offers a brief yet brilliant acquaintance with the ever-unfolding practices of this young artist octet — the fleeting instance when a fresh spiderweb catches the sunlight and glimmers like fire.

Presented by DoVA and Logan Center Exhibitions with the support of UChicago Arts.
