Diamond Stingily
(b. 1990)
Diamond Stingily creates personal archives of objects and architectural spaces, often drawing on memories from her childhood in West Chicago. Using everyday objects like security cameras, sports trophies, bedroom doors, jump ropes, and baseball bats, Stingily’s installations propose intimate reflections on the intersections of race, class, privacy, and domesticity. For her first major project, Forever in Our Hearts (2014), exhibited at the project space Egg in Chicago, Stingily staged her own death by writing an obituary and mounting a funeral.
